Chee dog disappeared! They searched the truck bed and back seat, but the Australian Shepherd was nowhere to be found. Chee isn’t just any dog, but a beloved and long-time family member, and working asset on the farm.
They phoned their last stop, the barn where the cow was dropped off, but were offered no clue as to the wily canine’s whereabouts. The news spread and soon calls came in that claimed sightings near a heavily wooded area bordering back roads. But attempts to grab the feisty dog proved futile. Chee simply would not approach strange people or voices. They had no choice but to make the long drive. Would they ever again hear his chirpy bark echo in the dairy barns or watch his jaunty presence strut across rolling pastures? Could they just once more scratch behind scruffy ears and bury tired faces into warm fur?
At last they found the general area, burst out of the truck, and the cry, “Chee dog!” rang throughout the forest.
One call was all it took, and a happy but worn out hound bounded out of thick brush and towering trees, and into grateful arms. Joy and delight overcame his ‘people’ as he scrambled into the truck and slept peacefully on the long road back home. A great Christmas gift, and all was well once more.
Maybe you’ve been running in the wrong direction or completely lost your way. You’re road weary and see no escape thinking God no longer cares about you or the world in general. You’re wrong. He not only cares, but loves with a fierce and powerful love. He is still the Master in control.
This Christmas day, determine to listen for the Master’s voice. Run out of your wilderness and into the arms of the Only One who’s always known you, the Only One who calls you by name and carries you safely into eternity by way of Love’s Pure Light. It matters not where you’ve been, what you’ve done, nor how far you’ve strayed, the Christ of Christmas is waiting. Come home.
“Dear Lord Jesus, Almighty Redeemer and Savior, let me listen only to you, and rescue me from all darkness as I run into Your warm embrace today and every day. Thank you, Amen.”
“He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him,” Psalm 91:15. “But he who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil,” Proverbs 1:33.
Blessings of Jesus’ profound security! Prayer requests?
