Meteorologists forecasted snow recently, and living in the southern USA, many viewed the prospect with a Christmas morning eagerness. Those of you who live where snow and freezing temps push in regularly, may be grinning just about now. But it’s true. We get excited because of snow’s rarity and beauty.
Sure enough, the front blew in, snow fell, and temps plummeted. Unfortunately, instead of a thick blanket of winter wonderland, our Texas skies managed only short-lived flurries. Nothing stuck, and that’s when disappointment settled in, at least for those not having to drive or work in it!
We live with dreams of how we want life played-out. But when visions fall apart we may feel deflated, and deserted, which can lead to either bitterness or ‘betterment’. When we make camp in bitterness, we perceive life through a smudged lens of bleakness. Our hearts and minds crumble under the weight.
But when we choose to make new dreams, and create new visions, we can begin to glimpse God’s presence and purpose in life’s detours and drama.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“I know that You (God) can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
“Dear Lord, wipe clean any darkness I perceive and let me see Your hand for good in my life. May Your vision be mine. Thank you, Amen.”
