It happened again. Yep, we got another flat tire, except this was caused by an embedded nail and not a utility knife blade. Whatever the source, the result was the same. The damaged tire was exchanged for its mini-me, and we limped into Big D via an altered, and lengthier, route. Something so little mattered so much.
We may feel ‘so little’, as if we don’t matter. No one cares about our opinions, our words, our lives, or so we think. Our internal pain shoots up, and we shut down, withdraw, and make our emotional footprint as tiny as possible.
But God says otherwise. You do matter. Not as an irritating nail, but as beloved of the Lord God Almighty! Look at these verses:
“The Lord sustains me,” Psalm 3:3
“The Lord has heard the voice of my weeping,” Psalm 6:8
“Because He (the Lord) is at my right hand, I will not be shaken,” Psalm 16:8
“The Lord is my strength … my rock, my fortress, my deliverer,” Psalm 18:1, 2
“I relied completely on the Lord, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help. He lifted me out of the watery pit, out of the slimy mud. He placed my feet on a rock and gave me secure footing,” Psalm 40:1, 2
“God’s loyal love protects me all day long!” Psalm 52:1
“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God, and such we are,” 1 John 1:1
AND God uses you to make a difference. Consider light that pierces the darkness from the flickering of a single candle, the illuminated numbers of a microwave or clock, or even the glimmer from a cell phone. Their brightness provides a clear path through pitch-black spaces. You can too.
“nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house,” Matthew 15:5
YOU DO MATTER! How will you view yourself differently this week and how will you make a difference?
“Dear Lord, help me see myself in the beautiful, valuable way you do and act accordingly. Thank you, In the Name of Jesus, Amen.”
“By God’s power we will conquer,” Psalm 60:12
