Blessings of viewing the past through God’s present perfection. Prayer requests?
Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Whoo Hoo, it’s our wedding anniversary which provides a perfect occasion to look back. A waterfall of memories cascade over my thoughts – the ceremony, reception – strictly cake, nuts and punch – and honeymoon in the cool crisp October mountain air. Did it all go off without a hitch? Nope.
I pinned two roses to the satin cover of the small Bible I carried with the thought I’d hand one off to my mother on the way down to the altar and one to his mom on the way afterward. (The church boasted two side aisles and no center one.) In my haste, I forgot to unpin and struggled to remove the roses. Rip. I hoped no one noticed, but how could they not?! Okay, a brilliant idea in the planning stage only.
I wore a veil covering my face and when he lifted it up and over during the “You may kiss the bride” part, a lock of hair went with it. From then on, my hair looked wonky in all the photos. Did someone not see this?
While on the honeymoon we picnicked in a national forest under the canopies of Douglas Fir and Ponderosa Pines and happily explored the woods. Back on the narrow two-lane main highway a road block of police and state troopers, rifles drawn, stopped all cars. Had we spotted an armed and dangerous escaped convict in those very woods? What?!
Perfection doesn’t fill your past either. We’re only human, so how could it? But we know God is perfect and through Him we can rest easy. He makes all things beautiful even when it looks all wrong to you and me.
