Be blessed as you help another! Prayer requests?
Isaiah 35:3, “Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.”
Unable to sleep I glanced out the hotel window. Stillness and quiet firmly settled in, the clear sky looked like black velvet scattered with four carat diamonds. Tall trees lined the area in front of the building; their bright lights twinkled with clarity and intensity. Then I saw them. The man in black and the dog in white. The canine companion seemed enormous because of his fluffy snow-colored coat, the man but a slender silhouette. I watched the pair stroll amicably along the edge of the adorned pines while the man gently guided his charge. After a few minutes they disappeared from sight, but not before their strong bond made its mark.
Who needs a helping hand? Who can I walk beside? Perhaps a relative in turmoil, a coworker with a devastating diagnosis, a sibling in emotional pain, a neighbor without a job, a harried new mother, a parent agonizing a child’s choice, a friend in divorce, a shuttle driver seeking peace, a senior adult with waning health, an airline attendant contemplating career change, a student battling bullies, a stranger grieving loss.
God schedules divine appointments. To recognize them remove self-focus and become other-focused. After all it’s not about you, but God IN you. How will you express His word and way this week? Who will be your ‘strolling companion’ today?
