The Crisis Prep

Water steadily drips and drones out all other sounds. The carpet underneath is growing saturated and it’s Saturday afternoon. Help! After a quick call to the emergency number of our trusty air condition repair people, I waited for the return call which came quickly. I explained my dilemma. First thing, he quoted the weekend, after-hours rate, and questioned if that was okay. What ‘cha gonna’ do, so I said, “Come on.”

He seems to think the second floor’s air conditioner line has backed up and the water simply found its way to the lowest point, the downstairs living room’s recessed lighting fixture. But it’s a lot of water and I hope that’s the only problem.

The thing is I could have saved myself a lot of trouble if I had simply agreed to the springtime check-up, but I didn’t. I justified not scheduling one because the unit worked perfectly. I didn’t want to be bothered by waiting for someone to show up, and I reasoned, “Why spend money for something that seems unnecessary.” The short and long of it, I did not prepare.

We will encounter spiritual crisis from time to time. Are you prepared? Are you regularly in God’s Word, spending time in prayer, worshiping with other believers, helping others in God’s name? Do you memorize scripture so it will remain forever in your heart and soul especially when you don’t have access to His written Word? Do you consider God’s opinion when making decisions? Are consistently exposed to strong Biblical teaching?

If not, why not?

Ephesians 6:18, “With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance …”

“Dear Lord, Please prepare and equip me for whatever this day brings. Thank you, AMEN.”

Blessings of spiritual preparedness! Prayer requests?
