Thoughts of inadequacy and doubt overwhelmed me as I drove to Seminary for orientation. Only my second visit to the campus, I wasn’t fully certain of where to park or in which building to enter. I mentally reviewed my notes and remembered the Bible verse I received that morning from a chronic pain support group –
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding,” Proverbs 3:5
A familiar verse, but as so often God does, He revealed a new application. All I had to do was show up filled with trust in God, and He would do the rest. What a comfort! What a joy divine, and as the old hymn states, I simply needed to lean on the blessed arms of God!
“What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.”*
The author based the lyrics on Deuteronomy 33:27a, “The eternal God is a dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms…”
So the day went well, met lots of interesting people, gained valuable information, and continue to marvel at the privilege and opportunity laid out by the Lord God.
What new beginning does God have for you today? Will you step in with joyous obedience and abandon to His will? Answer, “Yes, Lord!”
“Dear Lord, help me in this new journey and to always listen for and heed your voice. Thank you, Amen.”
Blessings of assurance in God’s will for you! Prayer requests? As always, confidential.
