“. . . He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.” Deuteronomy 11:14
Pools of standing water dot the ranchlands, cows seem to float on waves of liquid green, crows caw from treetops, and clouds continue to gather in gentle repose before unleashing furious rage. The grip of drought is loosening and the land of Texas thrives once again. Lakes overflow, country folks live in gratitude for rich harvests and fat cows, city dwellers water with abandon, life continues, and all seems well. But times of plenty should be times of preparation.
And so it is with spiritual lives. Valley times crush our soul, mountain moments fill us with joy, and lessons abound in both. Through drought-stricken seasons God uplifts where love has withered, grace is forgotten, and souls are seared. During peak points God must be remembered for it is not our power, our courage, our will that brought us there. Understanding the past brings purpose to the present, and direction for the future.
We must neither clutch too tightly to hardship or happiness, nor too lightly to God’s hand in both. Are you prepared for what may come? Give all to God and rest in His fields of plenty.
Blessings of godly gathering. Prayer requests?
“Dear Lord, grant me courage to view life’s journey through Your eyes. Thank you, Amen.”
