Bible Blessings – The De-cluttered Life – Psalm 51:10

Blessings of living spiritually de-cluttered for God!  Prayer requests?

Psalm 51:10. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

New clothes, new pencils, new notebooks, new classes, new friends, new school! While I’m not involved in back-to-school preparations, many are. It’s a time of change and new beginnings.

But I, too, am jumping into something new except mine doesn’t involve going anywhere. No, I’m not leaving the familiar, but changing the old. Last Thursday I instituted the Great Gover Declutter Clean-out, and believe me, it’s time. I’ve sorted through boxes, closets, cabinets and shelves. I’ve evaluated, analyzed, decided, tossed, and donated. I’ve remembered, reassigned, regrouped, removed, reorganized and the results feel pretty good.

But isn’t it also valuable to periodically review how we ‘do’ Christianity? Sure it is. What do you hold onto that needs to be given to God? Which closed areas will you open to God? What bad habits will you toss from your life? What mental, emotional, physical and spiritual areas will you de-clutter?

Even though you may not be affected by a new school year or clearing out crowded spaces, it’s always a good time to commit to clean and clutter-free worship of God, service to others, and personal godly growth.
