Blessings of unity through Jesus. Prayer requests?
Romans 12:5, “…so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
As I sit near the windows and look out at the back pastures I notice the cattle up near the house. Cattle stay in a herd, and as part of a one, they interact and seem to help each other. To rid one another of pesky flies they rub each other’s face or side. When one mama cow gives birth another stands guard. Several ‘mamas’ circle the calves protectively while the others graze or meander to one of the ponds for water. If danger lurks nearby, like a coyote, one trumpets the alarm to warn the others.
If cattle can relate to each other in such a way why don’t we as Christians? We criticize when we should encourage. We judge when we should accept. We sow seeds of derision when we should promote unity. We gossip when we should be supportive. We fight when we should reconcile. We condemn when we should forgive. We hold grudges when we should love. We stay silent when we should speak up. We hurt when we should help.
If even lowly cows work together for the benefit of the entire herd why don’t Christians? After all we are of the same ‘herd.’
