Are You Close to Christ?

“Be still and know that I am God.” Ps 46:10

We enjoyed having a group of college students at the ranch for a couple of days of spiritual reflection this weekend. Their leader mentioned this verse and encouraged the students to practice its truth. After handing out instructions he requested they find a place to be alone, settle hurried souls, quiet overwhelmed minds, and contemplate God, prayer and their relation to both. Bombarded by the insanity of today’s world, this is not as easy as one might think.

But being still allows our twisted thoughts and tortured hearts to unwind and heal. We begin to become aware of, and then to acknowledge God. He is real and He is with us. We then face a choice. Will we choose to abide in His presence or not?

Abiding is simply living day-to-day in closest connection to Christ by the power of His Holy Spirit. When we choose to abide we open ourselves to a new range of possibilities. We are more likely to experience God’s peace and power. We are more open to see ministry opportunities, and we more readily separate God’s voice from all others.

Which do you choose for this day?

“Dear Lord, draw me close, draw me now, draw me to forever-focus on You. Thank you, Amen.”

Blessings of the knowledge and joy of God’s presence! Prayer requests?
