Balancing on God’s Exercise Ball

For months I dealt with physical therapy in order to get rid of persistent pain. The therapist pushed core-building exercises, one of which was to perch on a large exercise ball, legs close together, without leaning, tilting, or of course, falling over! I was supposed to do this by sitting upright and exactly balanced on the top middle of the ball while tightening my abdominal (core) muscles – and hold that position for at least 5 minutes. Wow. Easier said than done, but eventually I did and it helped.

This made me think about God’s Word, and if I’m perfectly centered on His truths then I’m upright in belief and behavior, and balanced in responses to people and situations. I don’t ‘fall over’ when confronted with false teaching or whims of contemporary philosophies or trends. I’m strong in core beliefs about the Lord Jesus Christ, and I need not even ‘lean’ or ‘tilt’ when threatened by opposition. I am able to ‘hold position’ on my Christian beliefs, no matter what TV, movies, books, Internet, celebrities, or the judicial system may say.

Ps 33:4, “For the word of the Lord is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness.”

Will you prevent spiritual pain by exercising faith and strengthen ‘core’ Christian beliefs so that you may remain perfectly balanced on God’s truth?

“Dear Lord, help me to balance the rest of my life on your Truth. Thank you, Amen.”

Blessings of ‘core’ strength! Prayer requests?

Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
